Materials

Fibres used in handmade felt designs are pure wool with silk, bamboo, ramie or viscose fibres blended.    

The wool is largely from two main UK suppliers and ethically produced - from South Africa and South American non-mulesed sheep.

Dyes used by these suppliers are commercial acid dyes which conform with the Oeko-Tex 100 quality system. (Please ask if you would like further details of this standard)

The stabiliser is dilute pva,  an emulsion of polyvinyl acetate in water which  has a neutral pH value.  PVA is nontoxic to humans (unless eaten), however it does release toxic fumes if burned. It is water soluble and biodegradable. 

Embellishments & closures are wood, coconut, cane, jute, wool or natural fibres as above. 

Plans are also in progress for textile designs in wool, silk, cotton, and bamboo fabrics (new and recycled) and may also incorporate handmade paper
